About the SLA
The SLA was formed
to for the benefit of all those who seek to enjoy Shenipsit Lake reservoir
and its surroundings.The Shenipsit Lake Association is a non-profit organization
with exemption granted pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the Federal Internal
Revenue Code. The group has been in existence since 1990.
Mission
The Shenipsit Lake
Association, a non-profit corporation in partnership with the towns and
citizens of Ellington and Tolland, agencies of the State of Connecticut,
and other interested parties, is constituted to protect and improve Shenipsit
Lake and its surroundings. To promote and enhance the quality of life
in the community through pervasive and compassionate advocacy of good
water quality, wholesome recreation, and preservation of the historical
traditions of this matchless natural resource.
Shenipsit Lake Reservoir
Recreation Program
Shenipsit Lake Association in cooperation with the towns
of Ellington, Tolland and the Connecticut
Water Company is pleased to sponsor this recreational fishing and
hiking program. The program is open to all residents of the State of Connecticut.
The opening and closing dates for the recreation program as well as notices
and special event announcements are posted on the bulletin boards located
at the boat storage facility and the bridge, as well as this website.
The recreation program opens the 3rd Saturday in April and closes
October 31st.
SLA Officers
The officers of the SLA are chartered with following the
mission and vision of the Shenipsit Lake Reservoir Recreation Program.
The officers organize SLA activities, monitor progress of all SLA activities,
manage the organizations budget and liase with local and state organizations
as well as the Connecticut Water Company.
